The Best Exercise In The World

I think the Push Up is the best exercise in the world but also the most underrated. Most guys probably abandon the push up sometime around there 20's when they are asked that age old question. “How much do you bench press?” This is why I guarantee you if you walk into a gym on Monday there is always a line to get to a bench. If you are tired of waiting in that line I say we bring the push up back to its rightful place at the top of the exercise mountain. It not only builds powerful arms and a chiseled chest, it also develops a good support system for your core muscles. Push Ups are also a great way to judge how strong you are relative to your body weight.

How many pushups can you do? Test yourself by doing as many pushups as you can in 3 minutes. Take a short rest whenever you want, but keep the clock running the whole time. Fifty-five is about average, but if you can't reach 75—what most strength coaches consider "good"—then you need to either gain some more strength or step away from the beer. lol

  1. Well, I can't even do one, so my work's really cut out for me. In recent months I've graduated from pushups on the knees to a legitimate one, but can only go about halfway down. I'm in the midst of a major transformation having dropped 150 pounds through exercise and clean eating...always helps to have new goals to reach for. Doing a full pushup is top of the list.
